The festival of lights is here and everyone is busy decorating their homes, shopping, making sweets and visiting family and friends – well our stars are no different

BollywoodLife gets in touch with television stars to find out about their plans and preparations for Diwali. Read on to find out more…

Divyanka Tripathi

Like every Diwali, I’ll clean up my house, put up led lights and clean my idols in the temple and dress them up beautifully. Do pooja and post that I’ll catch up my friends, sing and dance… For me Diwali is the perfect occasion for the entire family to come together. All the kids get together and burn fire crackers. My Dadaji would do the pooja and give everyone in the family Rs.101 each (we have about 35-40 family members) which was our diwali pocket money. Diwali is all about being with the family for me.

Mrunal Jain

Diwali means eating lot of homemade sweets and doing laxmi pooja. I intend to buy new shoes and new clothes during this festive season. I will buy chocolates for my friends. Diwali is a very big festival for us. I will be celebrating it with my family. Since i am extremely fitness conscious, I will be keeping sweets to a minimum.

Tina Dutta

I would be buying sweets for everyone on the sets. I am also going to buy gifts for the building watchman and my staff. I plan to buy a new dress and perfumes for myself. I will have a blast this Diwali in my new house and I have invited friends over too.

Shama Sikander

My plan for this Diwali is to just have fun as always. I always keep buying stuff, I am a complete shopaholic so for me it’s Diwali every now and then in that sense. I’ll be celebrating with my family and friends. I guess I’ll be buying a new car as well. I’ve bought some of my favourite designer’s collections which includes Tarun Tahiliani and Rohit Bal chudidaars and anarkalis and this time I am going to try and wear a sari for the occasion, since everyone tells me I should and it’ll look good on me.

Shashank Vyas

I have no grand plans for this Diwali; I will be celebrating in Mumbai, decorate my house with lights and diyas and I plan to catch up with a few friends and have a good time, considering most of them are going to their hometown for the season. I am going to buy a nice home theatre for my new place.

Gunjan Utreja

No Diwali plans for me as this year as I am busy shooting. Since my new show is about discovering India through festivals, I will be shooting for the Diwali sequence at some location with the family that will feature on our show and my crew. I’m sad for obvious reasons but I am also looking forward to celebrating the festival in a different style this year. I bought a new portable projection screen and projector for me on Dhanteras.

Rishina Kandhari

I do intend to buy new clothes. I’ll be decorating my house with lights, diyas and rangoli. My family members from my husband’s side and my side will come over and we intend to have a good time. This year we are not holding a party, usually we have card-parties. This time it’s a family affair. My most memorable Diwali was when I was 16 years old because my dad had got a new car on my name. So that was the best Diwali ever.
