It’s the festival of lights, and like every year almost everyone will be bursting fire crackers. But a few telly stars have taken the onus of having a sound free celebration

Pets are sensitive to sounds, during Diwali festivities they tend to cow down under beds and tables due to the loud and noisy fire crackers. We caught up with a few stars who own pets to see how they will be celebrating Diwali this year. Read on to find out more…

Rashami Desai

My pet dog Oreo is a Pekingese breed. He is just seven months old and I have a great bond with him. During Diwali there will be a lot of noise everywhere, so I will keep him away from crackers and be extra careful with him like a mother. Oreo is like a family member to me. I will put cotton headphones on his ears so he doesn’t get affected by the loud noises of crackers. I have plans to take him out for a nice haircut at the pet saloon. I just want to see him happy and playful.

Tina Dutta

I have two dogs. I have a Golden Retrieves – Bruno, who is five months old. He is a naughty brat and my favourite pass time. My Labrador – Black Rani is barely two-years-old. I will be keeping them in a safe place at home, which is on a high floor, so hopefully they won’t be too affected by the noise pollution. I won’t be taking them out at all.

Ravi Dubey

My dog, Moyo, is a Cavapoo. He is three and half years old; Sargun and I are very attached to our dog. He is as important as any member of my family for me. So I will make sure that this Diwali my family will have a pet friendly Diwali and not burn crackers to avoid noise.

Ssharad Malhotraa

I have a four year old pug. His name is Masakali / Pet name (Musky). I might leave him at my friends place for a sleepover as I am very busy with my shoot schedule. I will take him to the beach one day before Diwali in the evening and pamper him with his favourite dog food. I would buy new headphones to save him from the effect of noise pollution. I am aware that dogs get really scared with noises of fire crackers and cry. I can’t see any tears in Musky’s eyes.

Sambhavna Seth

I have three pets two Lhasas – Coco, nine years old and Cherry is five years old. The third one is Chihuahua, Candy. She is just one year old. I can’t live without them as they are my lifelines. This Diwali I am planning to have a noise free festival. I have seen every year how the animals get scared due to the heavy noise. They cannot express their feeling as we do, but as a human being we have to be responsible towards them.
