We’ve been saying this for a while that the character of Viraj no longer makes sense to us and guess the actor has finally agreed
Nisha Aur Uske Cousins’ Viraj’s (Taher Shabbir) character in the show started off as someone who is righteous, level-headed, balanced and intelligent. However with Kabir’s (Mishkat Varma) entry Viraj somehow became unstable and quite dim-witted. Fans have been trolling the production house and the Aneri Vajani who plays Nisha in the show to express their displeasure about the change in Viraj’s character in NAUC, but no one paid heed to their demands and expectations.
A source just informed that Taher has put down his papers and will be shooting his last scene sometime in June. While this comes as a shock to us we’ve been expecting it for some time now. Viraj was such a strong and promising character but they changed his role in the show because he didn’t have great chemistry with Nisha – so we hear. But the production house maintained that chemistry was never Nisha and Viraj’s problem. While we’d like to believe them, something didn’t really sit well with us. We are still trying to get a confirmation on this from the production house and the actor himself.
A while ago when we spoke to the producers of Bodhi Tree Productions, they claimed that Viraj is a pivotal character to the script and will continue to be the hero. But with the recent developments in the story line where Kabir and Nisha fall in love with each other we saw little scope for Viraj to ever gain that spot back. In the recent episodes, the character was turned in to some psycho stalker who’d do almost anything to get Nisha back in his life –which seems very unlike him and this was something even the fans objected to.
Frankly, we are glad that Taher is quitting the show ‘coz Viraj didn’t make any sense to us either. We wonder what the production will do next. Will they replace the actor or bring in a new face to play the role? Guess we’ll have to wait and watch to find out.
