Jaya Bachchan‘s acting debut on TV has been getting postponed since a long time. It was the same time last year that news about Amitabh Bachchan’s Yudh and Jaya Bachchan’s TV show had come up. On one hand AB’s show came and garnered a lot of praise from critics, Jaya’s show is still no where to be seen. Grapevine has it now that the show might completely get shelved and not take off at all.

The show, as we know, was supposed to have Jaya Bachchan playing the role of a single mother who tries very hard and manages to fend for her whole family, which comprises of three sons, their wives and kids. The show would have been another fictional show with limited number of episodes like Yudh and Anil Kapoor’s 24. It was supposed to be based on a Gujarati novel called Yog Vijog. Reports were also coming that Abhishek Bachchan’s mummy dearest was taking a keen interest in the show and was helping in the casting of other contestants as well just because she was a co-producer in the show. Many popular celebs were being considered to play important roles in the fictional show.

The hyper around the show has almost died down and many actors are coming out protesting the same. Sudeep Sahir, who was brought on board for a very important role informed while speaking to a leading daily, “I was confirmed for the show in December last year, but then didn’t hear from them (the production team) after that. In March this year, I was told that the show might not happen, and that I should look out for work. I don’t think it is happening.”

Our khabroos close to Jaya Bachchan also inform us, “Actors were signed for the show, but no look tests or any other development happened. The set was ready and they were supposed to do a workshop, but then suddenly there was no news. Then representatives of the production team called to tell actors about the uncertain future of the show.”

So it seems that the big budget TV debut of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s sasu dearest wouldn’t happen anytime soon. We aren’t complaining. What about you BollywoodLifers?

Finally! Gauahar’s boyfriend has reacted on her recent incident, and obviously, he is mighty upset and enraged

A recent incident wherein Gauahar Khan was slapped while shooting for the Grand Finale of India’s Raw Star by a 24-year-old audience member, Akil Malik, has stunned the entire nation. While several people including some celebs from B-town have condemned the whole incident, Gauahar’s boyfriend Kushal Tandon is also upset, especially with the lack of measures taken to prevent such an event.

“Where were the bouncers? Who was in charge of security? If a bigger mishap had occurred, who would be held responsible? The guy could have had a knife or something,” an enraged Kushal was quoted by a daily.

There were reports that there were 250 bouncers at the venue. However, Tandon retorts and says, “I don’t think so. Must have been four or five of them, and they should have been close to the stage.”

He adds that Gauahar has been brave even after such a shocking occurrence. ” “She has been brave, and she even shot for the remaining portion of the show. It’s commendable and very professional of her,” says Kushal.

Oh no! Puneet, who has been in the bad light of viewers seems to have grabbed the headlines yet again, and for all the wrong reasons, of course

While viewers got to witness a dramatic nominations in yesterday’s episode of Bigg Boss 8, in tonight’s episode we will get to see some major tamashaa between Puneet Issar and Karishma Tanna.

Puneet, who as well know gets aggressive during the tasks physically attacked Karishma in the recent luxury budget task.

With contestants getting focused and involved in the task, we have often seen how they end up hurting the fellow contestant or hurt themselves. We know, Puneet must have not hurt Karishma on purpose, but in the promo, we can see Tanna shouting her lungs out and accusing Issar.

However, the serious injury happened when Karishma slipped at the entrance door of the house after which she started bleeding profusely. Ouch! All the housemates rushed to her aid after which a doctor was called inside the house.

So what was the task all about, you ask? The housemates are divided into two teams. First, the caretakers or the keepers of the museum and second the thieves. A museum like set is created inside the house, which has few animal figures.

Upen Patel, Sonali Raut, Dimpy Mahajan, Diandra Soares, Gautam Gulati, Puneet are the caretakers of the museum and have to make sure that nothing from the museum gets misplaced.The other team comprises of Karishma, Praneet Bhatt and Ali Quli Mirza, who are the thieves and have to rob the museum. Since Pritam Singh is the captain, he wont be participating and will just supervise the task.

So naturally, in task like this, we were indeed expecting things to get a bit ugly. All said and done, Karishma is badly injured and we don’t know what this injury will result into. Can you guess?

The dishy actor reveals why he really quit Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, his upcoming movie Main Aur Mr Right, his real life story and more

Ever since Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon ended, I’ve been trying to get in touch with Barun Sobti – the charming, suave, intense actor that almost every girl I know drools over. He sat waiting patiently for me as I finally found the location and settled down to start my long series of questions. Dressed in beige pants and brown t-shirt, Barun looked cute as ever. Read excerpts of the interview…

Ever since you decided to quit television, your fans have been begging and some had even sent threatening letters to the channel to bring you back. Did you personally face any of this?

OMG! People threatening… that’s new. I think everyone should get the liberty of picking their own career. I understand that people want to see me back on TV but it’s only because of the kind of content I have been doing that people want to see me more. If I have someone else making that choice for me, the result would not have been the same.

Were you approached by anyone to change your mind regarding quitting the Star Plus show?

No. Whenever people meet me, they are usually excited to share their experiences and what they love about the character with me. They are happy to greet and pose for pictures with me.

Were you surprised to hear that Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon went off air after you announced your resignation?

I was in UK when I heard that they had decided to end the show. In fact, it was my mom who told me about it. According to my knowledge, they had roped in Viraf Patel to play a completely new lead in the show, he was not going to replace me; but guess that did not happen. I was on a vacation with my wife that’s when I came to know that the show ended.

It’s been two years since you left, what have you been doing all this while, besides shooting for Main Aur Mr Right, 22 Yards and Satra Ko Shaadi Hai?

Various things, but it is kinda personal.

Is it true that while you were waiting for the release of your films, you were offered television shows? Why did you refuse?

Yes I did get a lot of offers but I can’t take any names. A lot of people wanted me to do TV shows before the trailer came out. Offers never stopped pouring, a lot of people thought, ‘ki kuch nahi kar raha hai toh TV offer karte hai’. I do not remember what all scripts I received but I did get quite a few of them.

How did Main Aur Mr Riight happen to you?

Main Aur Mr Riight happened during Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon itself. These guys called me for the role, I met them, read the script and I liked it. I enacted a few part and they were happy with it. There was no deliberate shift from television to movies as people often keep saying. When I left the show, I didn’t even have any movies in my hand. I had shot for a few sequences, post which I was working for three months on television. I did not leave TV for films.

Several interviews post IPKKND suggest that you had health issues, what was that all about?

See firstly, I had a mental block ‘coz I was doing the same thing for two years every day for 12 hours. I had experienced that even during my previous show – Baat Hamari Pakki Hai where I worked a lot. There have been times when I’ve even worked every day for a month for an average of 17-18 hours a day. Whenever I took a show, I promised to only do it for one year but once you get into the routine it is hard to let go. With time I realised I was not growing anymore. Besides all this I had started losing a lot of weight, I lost my appetite and my health was not good. Plus I never got any time to spend with my wife.

But things in television have changed, right? According to the new regime actors are not allowed to work more than 12 hours in any show.

That depends on your star stature. There are people who would come and work for four hours and no one would tell them anything but poor actors like me, we’ve worked for 17-18 hours a day. For my first show Shraddha, I shot for 52 hours with a two hour break in between. I have done crazy amount of work when I was required to, but it got a little too much after my last show. All you are is your character, there’s no life beyond it.

Your film Main Aur Mr Right has been delayed over two years, would you know why?

The usual, it takes time to make a film, and if one thing does not go right changes a made, it’s re-shot, dubbed and sent for post production again.

But we heard that the film was delayed due to lack of distributors.

I have no idea about all that.

While I am sure all the three projects are very close to your heart, which one would you rate as your best work?

Main Aur Mr Right is a youth oriented film, Satra ko Shaadi Hai is a real life wedding scenario of a middle class family without any bling, and 22 Yards is a human story of a cricket agent. They are all very different and I can’t upset any producers by picking one, but I will answer your question. I was doing two characters at that time when Main Aur Mr Right came to me. It required me to put in enormous amount of energy but it was difficult ‘coz I had no energy left but I still had to do scenes , which in my head when I did them it was great, but my director would come back and tell me ‘Barun this is not close to how over the top I want you to be’. So in that terms it was difficult, I hope people like it. Comedy is a very difficult genre to do. When you are crying its okay if people don’t get emotional with you, but when you crack a joke it’s not fun when people don’t laugh. Satra Ko Shaadi Hai was difficult ‘coz I was playing a simple guy. It’s important to know when to perform and when not to. It was a delicate character who could get lost in the crowd also and it can stand out too. 22 Yards is an intense story inspired from real life events. So among the three of them Main Aur Mr Right was my best work.

What about Main Aur Mr Right drew you to it?

When I was deciding to do this movie, a lot of people asked me the same question. According to me, if you are good enough you do not need alibis to pick and choose something. I read the script and that was enough for me to pick the movie. I think we have committed with the promo that we are not making a thought provoking sci-fi movie. It is a very simple and light-hearted movie and that is the commitment in the promo. When you come out of the theatre you may not be smarter but you’ll be a happier person.

How would you rate your chemistry with Shenaz Tresurywala and Sapna Pabbi?

Shenaz and me we hit it off really well. She is a very chilled out person. The chemistry is fun rather than intense. There is a conflict of interest which is cute. As for Sapna Pabbi, I don’t have anything bad to say about her. Satra Ko Shaadi Hai is an ensemble of 53 people. She listens to me I listen to her, we are nice to each other. Sometimes I feel she is a little lost. She has been abroad for the longest time so she takes a while to get in the Indian way. I’ll rate my chemistry with Shenaz a 7.5 and with Sapna it is about 7, there’s not much of a difference. Just that Shenaz and I spent more time together.

We know about all your characters, but now we want to know about the real Barun Sobti.

How do you describe yourself? You should ask my wife this, I think she will be able to answer this better. I believe I am kiddish, but only with my wife. No one’s really comes across that side of me, people really think I am intense, sincere and arrogant basically because I don’t talk much. Yes, sometimes I have to be told things, but that would not be my family’s opinion. According to them I have to be told everything. But when it comes to work only I make those decisions.

Do you consult your wife and family before picking a role?

It’s a mutual thing. All kinds of opinions and viewpoints are exchanged, but ultimately I make my own mind.

Among all the kind of roles that exist, what do you personally prefer – the romantic dude, the angry brooding man or something else?

I like playing the intense character, ‘coz they are deep. I love characters with a subtext especially if they don’t talk much; that gives me an easier job to do. (laughs)

What are your expectations from Main Aur Mr Right?

I am anxious, but it’s difficult to spell out what I expect. It will be interesting to see how it is received. It will be exciting to see how much we pull in and how people react to it. If it doesn’t succeed then I would not know whom to blame. I don’t know the fandom that you are talking about really still exists or not. I know there are a lot who like me so I believe they will be generous enough to go and take a look at my work.

Who is your target audience?

We are trying to target all kinds of people. We believe all the younger crowd would watch this film and hope they take their families with them.

If Pashmeen Manchanda (wife) had to change you to become her Mr Right four years back, would you agree?

All of us change in our own sense. Change is the only constant thing in the world.

Let’s talk about your real life love story – how did you and Pashmeen meet, fall in love and get married?

It will be four years since we got married on the release date of Main Aur Mr Right. We met in school. She was going to drink water from the tap and I was staring at her. No one proposed actually, we graduated into love and then marriage. We’ve been together for the longest time; there was no scope of proposing. We studied together, and then she went to Australia for further studies for five years. If you go through a long distance relationship and survive it, then you can survive even death. When she came back everyone knew we were going to get married.

Has she ever stopped you from romancing women onscreen or told you not to get too close?

She will laugh if she hears this. Pashmeen has never had a problem with my work or the women I romance onscreen. Even if you show her my photograph with another woman, she will not believe it.

What’s the one thing you will never do in a Bollywood film – strip, sex sequences or suicide?

The only thing I will refrain from doing is something that doesn’t play well in my mind. I am ready to strip onscreen since I have a good body.

You’ve finished three films, the fate of which will decide your future in Bollywood. But in the meanwhile, will you consider coming back to TV?

Of course I would like to do TV. There are brilliant shows coming up. I don’t know if it’s the right time to do a show or not but I would love to be associated with a respectable TV show irrespective of how my films fare in the box office. I am ready to even put in my own money and do a show. I’d like to do something that comes out every year and be part of a series like that would be interesting enough. Look at American television, it is so big. I am crazy for American television – The Good Wife, Suits, Homeland and The Newsroom.

Are you worried about competition at all – from co-actors, other B-town celebs or anyone?

I am only worried about myself and my performance; nothing else matters.

Things have changed drastically inside the Bigg Boss house since few days and especially between Puneet Issar, Praneet Bhatt, Pritam Singh and Gautam Gulati, who collectively call themselves P3G.

After Pritam, who is the captain of the house nominated Puneet in the recent nominations ki prakriya, the latter has took it very personally. And Gautam, who as we all know is very close to Issar has also gone against Pritam.

Pritam on the other hand says that Gautam doesn’t have a mind of his own and that does everything what Puneet says.

That’s not all. Pritam seems to have developed a hatred of sorts towards both Puneet and Gautam for he kept bitching about them.

Later, while having a candid conversation with Gautam, Puneet states that P3G is not the same anymore. And we aren’t surprised at all. After all, you can’t expect things to be better always inside the Bigg Boss house, no?

India’s Raw Star host comes out strong about the brutal incident on her show

TV star Gauahar Khan, who was slapped by an audience member for wearing a short dress while shooting a reality show, on Tuesday said she was “hurt and shocked” by the attack but the incident has made her stronger.
The attack happened on Sunday while Gauahar was hosting the finale of India’s Raw Star. An audience member slapped her during the break of the show. He said that being a Muslim woman, the actress should not have worn a short dress.The Bigg Boss star thanked her family and Bollywood for supporting her.”I thank my family, friends, fans, media, TV industry and film industry for all the love and support. I assure you all that I am hurt but not out. I am shocked but more determined.

I felt injured but stronger than ever,” Gauahar told reporters here.The actress hopes the man, identified as Mohammed Akil Mallick (24) and currently in police custody, will get punished for his violent behaviour.”This loser doesn’t represent my beautiful faith which in itself means peace and submission. He apparently attacked me because I am an actress. He wanted to send out his warped message. I am using the same status to appeal to all women to stand against such acts.” Gauahar said despite her shock she did not let the incident spoil the finale of the show and completed her shoot.

“I feel that pain of all women who go through any such attacks in the name of moral policing… I know this man does not represent the youth of India because the coward was outnumbered by the young boys who were outraged by his cowardly attack on me,” she said.

Without security check how could you give him the card? Isn’t it terrorizing? “This is also a terror and it has nothing to do with any belief. No religion or culture gives you the permission of being violent.“This loser does not represent my beautiful faith, which in itself means peace and submission,” the actress told reporters at a press conference here.

Reportedly, the accused Mohammad Akil Malik got up and went to the stage. Initially, he tried to touch her and then slapped her. He asked her how she could wear skimpy outfits and dance to cheap songs despite being a Muslim.“I am not here to promote any kind of dress code, or state that one must or must not wear certain clothes. I am only here to state that no one has the right to attack or hurt anybody for excising one’s personal thoughts or beliefs,” said Gauahar sharing her views of the Sunday incident.

She says she has faith in the country’s judicial system.“I fully trust the judicial system of our country and whatever will happen to him, I believe that will create fear,” she said.The incident has made her realize the pain of women who experience such attacks in the name of moral policing. “Who allows the moron to decide what the world should be doing or how a girl should dress? Why doesn’t a loser like him have a fear of the law before he decides to attack a girl who is unarmed, unprepared,” she added. Gauahar wonders that if actresses are subject to such harmful mindsets, then how safe a common girl or a woman would be?

“It angers me to realize that a man thought it’s okay to raise his hand and be violent to a woman at his will.” She feels one can oppose any ideology in a peaceful manner.

Bigg Boss announces the ‘Museum’ task and divides the house into two groups – that of the thieves and the guards! Karishma Tanna tries to steal an antique by taking guards Upen Patel and Sonali Raut in confidence.

But Diandra Soares finds out and asks Karishma not to steal. Yet, Karishma does not listen to her bestie and steals the item. Post that, Dimpy Mahajan finds the stolen item and takes it back.

Gautam Gulati senses that something is going on between Upen, Sonali and Karishma. When Sonali comes in, Gautam accuses Sonali of helping Karishma and betraying the guards team.

Sonali then accuses Gautam for the same stating that there is something fishy about him too and wonders if there is a secret task given to him. Gautam told Sonali who was making rotis that he believes she betraying the team.

Sonali gets upset and says that she is not going to make rotis anymore if Gautam continues to talk to her like this. Gautam tries to humour Sonali by stating that she makes round rotis, but she gets more upset and states that she will put the same round roti on his face if he doesn’t shut up.

Gautam is offended and warns her not to talk to him like she talks to Ali Quli Mirza as he is not Ali and will give it back to her. Listening to this, Sonali storms out of the kitchen.

And like every task, this one was also full of some major tamasha. Puneet, like always got way too much involved in the task. He was not only passing sarcastic comments, but also tried provoking Ali. However, the latter took it maturely this time. 

Throughout the task, contestants got into a lot of feuds with each other, but the the fight between Pritam, Gautam and Puneet that happened late in the night surpassed everything else that happened through out the day.

Apparently the issue started off with Karishma and Dimpy as the former tried to keep the items in store room but Dimpy resisted her in doing so. In the meanwhile, Praneet made most of the opportunity by running and hiding one of the items inside as they fought. Upen intervened and tried to snatch the item from Tanna’s hands, during that one of those items dropped and broke. Praneet called captain Pritam to tell about the incident and out of nowhere Dimpy and Pritam got into a huge fight.

As Gautam and Puneet monitored all this on screen in the garden area, they got inside the house to find them into spat, Puneet intervened in between questioning Pritam as to why was he talking to a woman like this.  And that is where it all began, Pritam completely lost his patience and got into a major war of words with Puneet.

It is during this verbal argument, Pritam felt that Puneet abused him, but he actually didn’t. Gautam, who is quite close to Puneet joined in and this irked Pritam even more as to why was he being involved. The fight got so intense that Puneet and Pritam even came close to beating each other.

Karishma and Diandra – friends turn foes?

So Karishma Tanna and Diandra Soares, who have been best of friends since the very beginning got into a war of words over a comment that Diandra passed on Tanna during the initial days. And host Salman Khan is to be blamed for this argument between the two ladies, for he got Soares to reveal the statements she made about Karishma in the weekend episode of the high voltage reality show.

House turns into a museum

Bigg Boss divides the housemates into two groups, Guards and Thieves. Praneet Bhatt, Ali Quli Mirza and Karishma Tanna are the thieves while Diandra, Gautam, Puneet, Sonali, Upen and Dimpy are the guards of the museum. Captain Pritam is the supervisor of the task. Only after stealing all the items from the Museum can the thieves steal the ultimate Diamond put up in the middle of the area in order to win the task.

As the guards geared up for the task in their respective uniforms, thieves strategized as to how to steal the antiques put up in the living area of the house. Puneet Issar, Dimpy Ganguly, Gautam Gulati and Diandra Soares were in full form to take up their responsibilities. Sonali Raut and Upen Patel, who were in charge of monitoring the museum through a TV set up in the garden area seemed to be in a playful mood to enjoy the task and let others do the same too. Guards were also given the liberty to put any thief into the jail under suspicion. As per their strategy the Guards in order to protect their antiques tried to hide and safeguard the items, while the thieves planned not to let that happen.

Puneet gets over aggressive, like always

Karishma tried to take one of the antiques and run inside the store room where the robbed items were supposed to be put. But as per the rules even before the store room door shuts, Puneet pushes Karishma thereby hurting her very badly. Puneet, who had no regret whatsover took away the robbed item and asked Karishma to back off.

Efforts in vain

Later on, Ali and Praneet are seen taking turns inside the jail as they try to steal to complete the task. Every effort of theirs goes in vain as the guards were extremely alert. Ali tried really hard to distract the guards by his hilarious antiques. The thieves then decided to stay low profile during the day and wait for the night to execute their master plans. However by the evening the thieves managed to pull some strings and heave a sigh of relief as they steal some items. But how the guards make their comeback was something to watch out for!

A young girl from a small town came all the way to meet her favourite star and proposed to Barun. In fact, the girl even got a huge bouquet of roses, a photo frame of the two and a handmade card to gift Barun.

An onlooker said, “Barun was completely taken aback with the girl. He made sure he accepted her gifts and gave her a hug also returning her love with a small gift.” From what we hear, the girl was totally star-struck refusing to take a no from the actor, only when Barun explained to her that he is really happily married, the fan agreed.

Barun broke quite a many hearts when he married his childhood sweetheart Pashmeen Manchanda in 2010.

The Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon fame looked dapper in a blue waist coat and suit, and was all smiles as his better half indulged in some creamy birthday cake, dressed in a black gown.

The party was attended by the likes of Sanaya Irani, Ravi Dubey and his wife Sargun Mehta. Though it was pleasant to catch the TV stars in their party mood, what majorly disappointed us was their turnouts at the bash. Apart from Vivian, no other TV star qualified to be be put on the best dressed list.

Sargun’s red dress with brown boots certainly can be termed as her fashion WTF moment. Birthday girl Vahbiz could have chosen a better outfit to sport other than the unflattering black gown, on her special day. We wished to see Sanaya wearing a dress with a more appealing print other than the blue one that she sported.

The latest rivalry between captain Pritam Singh and the rest from the P3G gang (especially Gautam Gulati and Puneet Issar) has been taking turns to let each other down. It’s quite evident that Puneet, Gautam and Dimpy Ganguly are not happy with this captain, because there have been many issues in the house ever since he has been crowned as the captain.

They said that some people cannot handle success and that Pritam is unable to handle his position as a captain. His ways in the house are making things go haywire. They feel that ever since he has become the captain, he is getting boisterous and too authoritative for no reason. They even mentioned that nobody could imagine they could see his real face.

We all have witnessed a sizzling chemistry between Diandra Soares and Gautam Gulati in Bigg Boss 8. The two lovebirds are often seen flirting around and getting all touchy with each other. But they took their romance to the next level when the duo shared a lip-lock in tonight’s episode of Bigg Boss 8. Yes, they did the unthinkable much to the shock of other inmates and the viewers.

However, for those of you who watched the episode must have noticed that the lip-lock between Gautam and Diandra was censored. Why, you ask?

Where most daily soaps revolve around the typical and predictable plots involving a bahu, saas, sasural and pati-pati, Ek Hasina Thi can be credited for bringing something different to the plate. A revenge drama about protagonist Durga (played by Sanjeeda Sheikh), this show has managed to keep the viewers hooked through the year. Like all good things, EHT is coming to an end as well.

The plotline in the show is currently showcasing the mystery around Dayal’s (Durga’s father) death. Where we know that the cunning Shaurya (Vatsal Sheth) is the one who shot him, Durga and the rest continue to figure out who the murderer can be. Further, Durga and her companion Akash are on to Sakshi’s (Simone Singh) trail and are finding means to discover the truth regarding her past identity. The latter is interestingly is on the same page, and is attempting to learn on what Durga’s true identity is.

While we all know the tragic history behind Durga’s past and the fact that she is Nitya, the same is yet to unfold in the series. Where in the last episode, we saw Durga and Akash discovering that it was Rajanth (Ayub Khan) posing as Akram Khan and threatening his wife Sakshi, the upcoming episode will showcase Sakshi acquiring Durga’s DNA results and being shocked to learn that they don’t match Dayal’s. Hence, she will be adamant to find out about Durga’s secret identity.
