Muh Boli Shaadi TV review: Minus Fahad Ali’s earnest performance, there’s nothing really great about the show

Sony TV’s new show repeats the same old story packaged differently

Shashi and Sumeet Mittals bring in a new love story with two very complicated families.

Story

Muh Boli Shaadi revolves around two characters Nikhil (Fahad Ali) and Anmol (Zalak Desai), who are neighbours. During a freak accident, Nikhil saves Anmol and she falls in love with him. Nikhil, who hails from a middle class family, leads a simple and planned life. Anmol is exactly the opposite; she is spontaneous, adventurous and impulsive. The Tiwaris and Singhs have very different social standing and ideologies. The two families are constantly seen having a squabble over trivial things. Nikhil is, however, focussed on his studies and Anmol is too much in love with Nikhil to see the difference of opinion between the two families.

The Good

After viewing about three episodes, we can confidently say that Fahad has managed to create a whole new identity with his role as Nikhil. He is very convincing as a studious and upright son. Zalak eases in to her character of being impulsive and foolhardy. There is some spark between them, but whether it forms into great chemistry or not is yet to be determined. Darshan Jariwala and Meghan Jadhav remind you of the Saas Bina Sasural days; goes without saying that we’ve never doubted their acting skills.

The Bad

The characters seem rather forced and way too scripted. The Tiwaris and Singhs are forced into this fight. The story of Muh Boli Shaadi, where the leads fall in love but their families don’t approve their relationship is a plot that we’ve been seeing since the beginning of time. There is no freshness or wow factor that will make us want to tune in to the show again. The couple may need to work on their chemistry because without that the show may not take off at all.

Verdict

Like most Sony shows, this one may also be lost in oblivion a little too faster than the makers expect. Skip it; there are definitely better things to watch on TV.
