![Why Chetan Bhagat is likely to make a fool of himself as a judge on Nach Baliye 7?]()
The famous author and screenplay writer is now turning judge for a dance-based reality show. Now, I am having some trouble wrapping my head around it…
Chetan Bhagat just declared on Facebook that he is in fact, judging Nach Baliye this year with Preity Zinta and Marzi Pestonji. Chetan judging a dance reality show is hilarious on so many levels! He is clearly no dance wiz (probably has two left feet), he is super awkward on camera (remember his Shaadi.com ad?) and his experience in showbiz is lesser than Poonam Pandey’s! I was reading through his FB post on Nach Baliye 7 and here are my thoughts on the same. If you are hardcore Team Chetan, look away…
CB’s status says, “Well, I am no dance expert! However, the show format has changed and apart from dance, there will be a lot of emphasis on couple chemistry, compatibility and team work. I will be focusing more on the latter parts. Also, as a motivation speaker, I hope I will be able to inspire the participants as well.”
Motivational speaking at a dance show? What’s gotten into the makers of Nach Baliye? Why would they try so desperately to fit in an uninspiring author into the format of the show? Why would they rope in someone like Bhagat whose dancing skills are probably worse than a popcorn’s? If they really need a motivational speaker they should get KRK on board and I swear he’ll do a swell job (cross refer his encouraging tweets and his dancing prowess in Deshdrohi)!

Anyway, moving on…
Bhagat’s status further read, “The main reason for me to do this was to reach deeper into India, as one of my goals is to touch as many Indians as possible in my lifetime. The more people I reach, the more people I can influence towards positive change. As one of the biggest shows on Indian television, Nach Baliye provided that opportunity.”
Oh pish posh, Bhagat you have already reached out to millions of Indians with your “literary works”. We are paying for your warped representation of romance and dialogues like “deti hai toh de warna kat le”! Your mediocre writing has plagued the youth so enough already!
The Half Girlfriend writer then went on to say, “I am also more involved in films now, where apart from storytelling, song and dance forms a big part. Being familiar with those forms will only help me get better as far as films are concerned. Finally, the show is a lot of fun and it is about time I took myself less seriously.” Wait, I thought you were on the show for motivational speaking and assessing THAT as a viable career option! Also, if you really want to take yourself less seriously read what Twitter trolls say about you…
Lastly, Chetan Bhagat echoed my concerns on him playing judge as he said, “It is a risk. It could really work or I could end up making a fool of myself. And that is a little scary. However, in almost all my talks, I tell people to take risks. If I don’t do the same myself, I won’t be being true to my word.” Let me save you time Bhagat, your stint as a judge WILL be an embarrassment and in all likelihood you will look dumb when you will inevitably be invited on stage as the show judges too do a few thumkas. But then again your books are a bigger embarrassment and THAT hasn’t stopped you from writing them. So dance away my man, dance away!
Good luck in all your endeavours! I hope you make a better judge than Sajid Khan. That’ll show them!
