![Nach Baliye 7 Highlights: Average performances and over enthusiastic judges – Is this show for real?]()
So like I told you earlier Smiley Suri and her hubby Vineet Bangera are eliminated from the show – but did they really deserve to be out?
Nach Baliye 7 performances happen every Sunday and throughout the week contestants have to do the love test. This Sunday the judges shocked us – Marzi Pestonji with his over enthusiasm, Preity Zinta with her ridiculous scores and Chetan Bhagat for his reasons for scores. Seriously the show needs a new panel!
Mrunal Thakur and Sharad Tripathi: It was indeed a picturesque performance combined with the set. They recreated Venice on the stage which looked better than the real one. Judges were impressed and so was I; in fact Marzi was so impressed he gave them a standing ovation and scored them 27.
Amruta Khanvilkar and Himmanshoo Malhotra: The jodi has the perfect timing and manage to creatively give some amazing performances. This week they combines lavni, Punjabi and salsa together – which was quite impressive. Of course Marzi found a few glitches here and there, but more or less the performance was quite decent. Throughout the performance Preity’s mouth was open, but when it came to scoring the couple she said that they didn’t impress that much. The couple scored a mere 25.
Shakti Arora and Neha Saxena: They may not be experts at dancing but practice is bringing them closer to perfection. They showcased a love story and Marzi was super impressed with the performance that he didn’t find a single flaw in their act hence he scored them a 10 and again gave his second standing ovation. The couple got 27 points.
Jay Soni and Pooja Shah: No she is not a dancer and no one expects them to ace every round. But being a choreographer don’t you think Marzi should tell them how to improve; especially when their moves seem too robotic and stiff, or how their facial expressions show that they are counting in their head, or the fact that their act had a gazillion blunder. Instead of that Marzi gives his third standing ovation to the couple. Preity and Marzi give the couple a ten and Chetan fairly awards them 8 points.
Aishwarya Sakhuja and Rohit Nag: It was unfortunate that the couple lost their balance and toppled over, but like the judges said, Aishwarya was commendable by keeping her presence of mind and continuing with the performance even when Rohit gave up. They would have been eliminated with just 23 points if they didn’t have immunity.
Sana Saeed and Deepesh Sharma: Yes Sana is a fabulous dancer but isn’t this a couple dance, so how can scores be given on the basis of one partner? The judges accept that Deepesh needs to work harder but when they score Preity and Chetan give the couple 9 each. How is that a right judgment or fair to the other contestants?
Upen Patel and Karishma Tanna: It was a quirky performance something I really didn’t expect from the couple. Marzi gave the couple a standing ovation; I don’t know if you are counting but this is already his fourth one. I liked the performance but did it really deserve a ten? Marzi and Preity have some weird scale of judging performances. They are safe from eviction next week because along with Jay and Pooja the couple were high scores of the night.
Payal Rohatgi and Sangram Singh: Now this was one performance where the contestants went completely out of their comfort zone and give a splendid performance. For sheer guts they should get all nines for the act. Although someone must tell Sangram that he needs to work on his expressions. All said and done, they still didn’t deserve a ten, Ms Zinta’s way too lenient for no rhyme or reason.
Nandish Sandhu and Rashami Desai: Theirs was by far the best performance of the night but the couple lost out because Chetan felt the couple cheated in their love task during the week. He reduced four points from their scores for this and I found that a bit too much.
Arpit Ranka and Nidhi Ranka: The runaway couple of the show gave a decent performance with a decent concept. It deserved an 8, but Preity gave the couple a ten and I still can’t figure out on what basis she is scoring the couples.
Smiley Suri and Vineet Bangera: In spite of being trained dancers, the couple gave an average performance. Marzi claims that while their act was flawless but the vow fact is missing from their acts which can make or break the chances further. With a score of 25, the couple got eliminated.
Overall, this week’s performances were rather average when you compare them to all the seasons of dances I’ve seen and been amazed. Marzi being the only learned judge on the panel must really give more constructive criticisms, Chetan should judge only the love tests ‘coz his opinion on the dances really are bizarre, but some of the points he gives seem valid at least he thinks like a critic. As for Preity, frankly I have nothing against the actor, but she is the wrong choice for this panel even more than Chetan.
